i get this repeating message on the terminal screen:

Hi

Basically you got an lightweight (lwapp /capwap ) AP and you need to use it as standalone unit.

Well, you need to convert the AP to autonomous.

Follow this guide:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html#wp161272

Let us know how did you go and if it is useful please rate the post.

how would you set the IP of the AP if "config t" isnt an option?

Basically the steps never mentioned that you need to setup the IP on the AP.

If you use the mode button basically the AP will use the recovery IP that is 10.0.0.1

I have the TFTP server running on my mac, with the correct IP address and the file/directory has 777 chmod permissions and i am getting this error:

process_config_recovery: set IP address and config to default 10.0.0.1
process_config_recovery: image recovery
image_recovery: Download default IOS tar image tftp://255.255.255.255/c1140-k9w7-tar.default

examining image...
%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/c1140-k9w7-tar.default (permission denied)

any clue what could be causing this? on the AP side or MAC?

Thanks

I think it is MAC issue.. well maybe is just software..

I know TFTP server on apple computers does not reply back to broadcast request like the one the AP is doing.

So try it with windows, TFTPd32 as server and no firewall enabled.

Just make sure that you have this file c1140-k9w7-tar.default exactly in your TFTP dir. I'm guessing that you have instead c1140-k9w7-tar.default.tar file.

Thanks everyone. I got it to work. Ended up also being the file name :

c1140-k9w7-tar.default.tar

removed the .tar at the end and was good to go

Glad to know that it works!

Please dont for get to rate the post and to mark it as solved.
