Hi,
I have four 1200 series AP. Part number of these AP's is AIR-AP1231G-A-K9. I am thinking to buy a new 2504 WLC with 5 AP licenses. Just wondering whether my AP's are compatible with WLC or not. These AP's are in close proxomity and start contending with each other if I configure the stand alone. Advise/suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
The Reelase notes for 7.0.235 supports 2500 WLC and the 1231 AP

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. This document says 1230 Series, AIR-LAP1231G. I think I can upgrade AIR-AP1231G-A-K9 to AIR-LAP1231G. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, you can convert the 1230 WAPs from autonomous to controller-based.
Howver, I wouldn't recommend it.
Let's put it this way: The 1230 is already end-of-sale and the final controller firmware that will support the 1230 is the 7.0.235.0.
Unless your reason to go down the road of purchasing the 1230 is to "prepare" the network when you upgrade the 1230 then, ok. That sounds good.
If you're not planning to upgrade the 1230 in the next, say 2 years, then purchasing the 2504 is a fine way to waste your money.
