Cisco 1832i Max Power Level

Dear All,

I am having an issue with Cisco 1832 APs.

We have centralized controller for 3-4 buildings. Each building having different AP model.

All other buildings are working normal, whereas one of the buildings having 1832i AP model is having issues in ICMP packets. All the APs are operational on power level 1 for both radios and it is set to auto mode. Controller is 5520 and version is 8.2.166.0.

My Question is why the controller is not adjust the power level whereas it is set to automatic.

There is no any AP group and RF profile. I have requested to the client, but they refused for now.

Can you please let me know, what is that issue or did you face the same ?

RRM only works if the AP hears from 3 or more other access points. So, the question to you is, how many AP’s are in the other site and is the site high density or sparse as far as AP deployment? On the 5GHz, if the AP’s are not densely deployed, and has good channel separation, power can be high (1). In a high density environment where channels are overlapping, the power can reduce to a lower value. On the 2.4GHz, with high density, you should see power very low and not at 1 unless you have a sparse deployment.
