Cisco 2504 controller with 1242 APs configuration of 802.11a/n issue

I am using Cisco 2504 controller with 1242APs. I have enabled both the Radios 802.11a/n and 802.11b/g/n but clients are not getting connected with a/n these are connected with /g. While i checked the status on APs and found that 11n Parameters 11n Supported = No.

I want to use high throughput because we are not getting speed while copying any file from shared location and is reaching to 90-200Kbps copying speed where download/uploading speed from Internet is proper.

Can you anyone let me know what is the issue here ?

Thanks

Ashish

Hi,

1242 AP don't support 802.11n rates.

*** Data Rates Supported

• 802.11a: 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, and 54 Mbps

• 802.11g: 1, 2, 5.5, 6, 9, 11, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, and 54 Mbps

Check the datasheet :

Thank you Sandeep... I have gone through that. Then I think we can use 5GHz on these APs for high throughput, Will that be helpful ?

Hi,

Either you use 802.11b/g or 802.11a, in both case you can get max 54 Mbps speed with 1240 series AP.

Try to disable the 802.11b data rates (1, 2 ,5.5 and 11) disabled and leave the rest enabled.

Check this post: http://networkguy.de/?p=837

Sandeep, I have already disabled 1, 2, 5.5, 6, 9 and 11 for 802.11b and 6, 9, 12, 18 for 802.11a.

So what happens now...

Can you See  the client connecting to higher data rates and also measures the speed!!!!!

Sandeep

Client are connecting with 54Mbps.. But i just want to increase the data rate for copying if any option is available. As i mentioned earlier data copying speed is very slow so is there any option to increase that ?

Hi,

its the Max Speed you can get with 1242AP. There is no other option in this scenario.

if you need to have better throughput then go for 3700 or 3800 series AP.
