I am suspecting it is due to software bug , but just that i couldnt find a 100% matched BUG ID  . Appreciate if you could share us the finding why the AP is not able to register with 9800.

WLC model : C9800-CL-K9

Running firmware on WLC : 17.09.04a

  - Have a checkup of the C9800-CL-K9 controller's configuration using the CLI command show tech wireless
and feed the output from that into Wireless Config Analyzer

Dear Leo ,

thanks for your sharing . But there is no certificate related error was logged on the debug . In fact , the AP is always stuck on the image downloading state and keep repeating the same cycle again after reload .

  - Added reply : also check the APs network connection on the switch(port) ; check if duplex and speed is negotiated as
expected , also look at the interface (error) counters

Dear Marce ,

thanks for your sharing . Below is the output from the  Wireless Config Analyzer Express using show tech wireless output.

But i do suspecting the WLC is hitting the bug CSCwi16509 as i saw two entries on WLC with same IP address , but different different base mac address (but same ethernet mac address)   . Do you think the WLC is hitting the CSCwi16509 ?

boonhine79_1-1720683741376.png

            >...Do you think the WLC is hitting the CSCwi16509 ?
   - The latter can only be evaluated (further on) but all red conditions from WirelessAnalyzer must always be corrected first!
                                   This is mandatory.

I really think someone should read that Field Notice carefully.

@Leo Laohoo Leo , could you elaborate ; I can't see that FN being related to this problem (for the moment....)

Read the Known Affected Version.

@Leo Laohoo The string mentioned can not be found in the FN you posted , I think you may have posted the wrong FN,

 M.

And I found another one:  FN72524 - During Software Upgrade/Downgrade, Cisco IOS APs Might Remain in Downloading State After December 4, 2022 Due to Certificate Expiration

@Leo Laohoo            'Known Affected version' not found neither,

17.9.4/17.9.4a is affected in FN63942 but it is fixed in FN72524, hence, I did not post FN72524 the first time.

The controller may be running 17.9.4/17.9.4a but the AP sure is running an older version and this version could be affected in FN72524.
