Hi, My cisco 5508 does not boot. At startup I am getting the following:

CF Bus 0 (IDE): OK
IDE device 0:
 - Model: SM223En-AA Firm: SM223EAA Ser#: (03)5526888-2008****
 - Type: Hard Disk
 - Capacity: 31.9 MB = 0.0 GB (65520 x 512)

Press <ESC> now to access the Boot Menu...

Loading backup image (Image not found)
** Bad partition 2 **
** Launch failure  **

Loading primary image (Image not found)
** Bad partition 2 **
** Launch failure  **

After that it shows menu options.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how I could fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to open a TAC case and TAC can walk you through fixing the issue. They have an image they will have you download and then will guide you through the process.

Hi, the WLC is currently not under a service contract, will I need the FUS file?

The image you need for the flash is provided by TAC and it is not downloadable. Your better off looking for a cheap SmartNet so you can recover your 5508.  The image you need is not downloadable.

what do you consider a cheap smartnet? all those i see are very expensive. what would be the cheapest option where i could still get help from cisco?

Well why not just try opening up a case and see if they will help you. I don't know what else you can do as when I say cheap, it's cheaper than buying a new 5508.  Yes it still cost a lot, but that is Cisco's process.
