Cisco 881W

Hi,

We have a customer who is using a Wireless Controller and the Cisco 881W router. The LWAPP image has been installed and is working with the Advanced Security Licence.

Although, when checking the logs of the AP, we see the following message -

SM_LICENSE-6-BOOTIMAGE_CHANGE_TO_AUTO: Boot image has been changed to autonomous image
Please use router EXEC CLI service-module wlan-ap 0 reload
to bootup autonomous image on AP

I think I may need the Advanced IP services for this deployment? Currently we are not running it, so am I at risk of something breaking or are we just not licensed correctly?

Hi,

The logs are talking about "service-module wlan-ap 0 reload" which is the AP located inside the Router. Access it using "service-module wlan-ap 0" command and check "sh flash"and "sh boot" to see what is the boot variable. It must be pointed to some "k9w8" image as it is connected to the WLC.

Change it if it is pointing to K9w7 -Autonomous image. I hope the existing license has allowed you to join AP perfectly with WLC.

Regards

Dhiresh
