Cisco 887w Router with Aironet AP as repeater

Hi, can anyone confirm if a 1600 series Aironet access point can work as a repeater to an 887va-w router?

Thanks for the link although that doesnt entirely answer the question.

There is a note in the link you provided that says "Note Repeater access points running Cisco IOS software cannot associate to parent access points that that do not run Cisco IOS software".

The 877va-w is running IOS both for the router and the integrated AP802 access point and im familier with the configuration but the 1600 series AP were trying to use as a repeater wont associate.

I just need a yes/no answer really, i cant see why it wouldnt work but dont want to waste the customers time.

I am not sure because i never used this AP as repater but it should work.
