Cisco 9800 WLC Water Sensor

Have a client that recently had a 9800 controller installed and they are asking for an IoT water sensor. I know Meraki makes a great one but from what I've seen those can only be used if the user has access to a meraki dashboard. This client is using a physical controller non-cloud based.

Can the 9800 be used for this water sensor or is there another one Cisco suggests for this setup of physical controllers?

 - If the particular device 'can go wireless' I presume it could connect to APs connected to a 9800 ; the rest and or data handling is for apps ; or else look for similar products on the market with  wireless connectivity.
