We have Cisco wifi setup at our office. Till now we had cisco Aironet access point -1000 series and the cisco Express- 500 series of switches. These switches inturn connects to wifi controller ( 4400 Series) we do have wifi control system centrally located at our corporate office at UK.
Now we are in the process of replacing the access point at one of the branch offices with Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series
. But, for some reason we are not able to successed through as these new Ap's doens't work, some of the problem that I am facing is
1) If I login to controller and check for the availability of new AP's. it doesn;t list this AP at all not even as Roughe AP's
2) I can't login to this new AP's through console, it doesn;t take deafult username and password ( cisco) - is there is way to reset it ?
I was under the assumption that, by replaceing the exisiting AP with new AP ( ofcouse I may need to change the hostname's of AP on the controller for easy Idenfication of it location) the whole setup should work as before..
can some one guide me if anything spesific to be done here.
let me know if you want any other details.
Thank you

Hi Peter,
The default credentials to login to the APs should be Cisco/Cisco (so with a capital 'C').
Could you please confirm if this works?
If you could collect some debugs from both the WLC and an 1130 AP, I'd suggest the following:
1. From the WLC:
debug mac addr
debug lwapp event enable
debug lwapp error enable
debug lwapp pm pki enable
2. From the 1130 AP:
show version (this is to check if it is running an LWAPP based image, you'll see it from the "C1130-K9W8")
debug lwapp client event
debug lwapp client error

Hi Fede
Thank you for your reply
I could login to AP with the credential you mentioned and see the image as flash:/c1130-rcvk9w8-mx/c1130-rcvk9w8-mx". Is this the right image or requires any upgrade ?
I have also enabled the debug you mentioned and could see the output as below
APc84c.7581.50da#debug lwapp client event
LWAPP Client EVENT display debugging is on
APc84c.7581.50da#debug lwapp client error
LWAPP Client ERROR display debugging is on

Thank you Peter,
Glad that those credentials on the AP worked out.
The image running on the AP is good.
Would you be able to log the debugs output from the SSH session to the WLC and the console of the AP to a text file and attach it here?
For Putty, for example, you can log the command line output by right-clicking on the window's top bar and selecting
change settings... > logging
Also, the output from the WLC showing debugs from multiple APs would indicate that the following debugs were not enabled in the proper order
debug mac addr
debug lwapp event enable
debug lwapp error enable
debug lwapp pm pki enable
The very first line is made on purpose to filter debugs specifically for that AP's MAC.
Through the following debugs and the console output of the AP we should definitely get a better picture of what's happening:
1. From the WLC:
debug mac addr
debug lwapp event enable
debug lwapp error enable
debug lwapp pm pki enable
2. From the 1130 AP:
(enable the following right after the AP boots up, while keeping on logging the output from the console)
debug lwapp client event
debug lwapp client error

Hmm..
*Mar 1 00:45:55.718: LWAPP_CLIENT_EVENT: spamResolveStaticGateway - gateway NOT found
many times we se this msg when we hv not configiured the AP-MANAGER interface on the WLC and if the WLC is running in LAYER 3 mode..
also if the AP is able to get the ip address as well..
Please check if the ap is able to get the ip (on the AP issue the command "show ip int br" and paste it here)
if the WLC is in layer 3 mode , then configure the AP-manager and see if that helps..
lemme know if this answered your question..

Hi Peter,
The debugs and console output from the AP could definitely tell us something more, even about the IP address settings received by the AP via DHCP.

Ok.. if we are using the CE 500 SOHO switch, then make sure that the switchport which is connecting to the AP should be in SMARTPORT "ACCESS POINT" state NOT "GUEST" , "PHONE" or ETC.. The smartport configurations should be done using the CNA GUI..
lemme know if this answered your question..

Hi Surendra
Thanks for your reply.
Your suggestion is never rejected rather got little delay for replying (I apologies!). Pls see the result of show ip int brief below. I also noticed that on the switches all ports are configured as SMARTPORT.
APc84c.7581.50da# show ip interface brief
Interface IP-Address OK Method Status Protocol
FastEthernet0 unassigned YES DHCP up up
APc84c.7581.50da#
We are using this AP's at our Bangalore (INDIA) office. Do you think is there any region barriers, like this kind of AP's doesn’t support in APAC region or something like that
Please clarify
Thanks again
Peter

Hi Peter,
The fact that the "old" APs were working on the same network would in fact suggest that the wired infrastructure is configured correctly.
Nevertheless, it seems that the AP cannot get an IP.
Would a standard PC connected to the same port obtain an IP address correctly?
The console output from the AP while booting up is still a valid info to understand whether maybe the AP is getting an IP, but then kind of loosing it after.

Fede

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the response!!
I am sorry for that.. somehow the post got rejected.. no problem.. so from the below output.. i dont see AP getting the IP.. its in UNASSIGNED STATE!! so i guess its not able to contact the WLC..
APc84c.7581.50da# show ip interface brief
Interface IP-Address OK Method Status Protocol
FastEthernet0 unassigned YES DHCP up up
APc84c.7581.50da#
Are we getting the IP?? or are we not?? try assigning a static ip address to the AP and lemme know if that helps.. here is the link to configure the same..
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_tech_note09186a00808e2d27.shtml
also the below may help you as well..

Also Fede's suggestion as well..
Regarding your next question..
We are using this AP's at our Bangalore (INDIA) office. Do you think is there any region barriers, like this kind of AP's doesn’t support in APAC region or something like that
answer is NO.. Only thing that may happen is the RADIOs may go down coz of some regulatory domains.. but not that the AP not joining.. (I assume that the AP and the WLC are both in A- Regulatory domain) please confirm..
lemme know if this answered your question..

Hi Surendra & Fede
Thanks for your response
I have configured a static IP on the AP from the same range of controller (Since our controller is on LWAPP Transport mode – Layer 2) I could able to ping Controller and from controller I could able to ping the AP. However, I could see this error on the AP " Mar 1 06:53:07.072: LWAPP_CLIENT_EVENT: spamHandleDiscoveryTimer: Could not discover any MWAR"
FYI – we don’t have firewall in the between WLC and AP
Still the concern is why AP is detected by the controller. Because of that we can't use this 1130G AP's
I welcome any suggestions of yours!
Thanks
Peter

Hi,
" Mar 1 06:53:07.072: LWAPP_CLIENT_EVENT: spamHandleDiscoveryTimer: Could not discover any MWAR"
MWAR is normally used or MWAR is the name that translates to the controller name... So the AP is not able to discover... Since we are able t oping the AP from the WLC and Vice-versa.. please issue the below command on the AP console and lemme know how this works..
Test lwapp controller ip
Ex - test lwapp controller ip 10.10.10.10
Give it a minute so that the AP reloads on its own and see if you are able to ssee any progress!!
lemme know if this answered your question..

Hi Surendra - Good day !
I have executed the command you mentioned from AP's console. But, it didn't gave any result / it didn't reboot even after 20 min ..
Thanks
Peter
