You're right, sorry, mixed the model. The 1850 has first support in 8.1MR1, which is 8.1.111.0. So the software on your WLC is still to old :)

Btw. don't use any 8.1 code, Cisco has deferred (recalled) it because of to many issues.

Normaly the upgrades are free, if you have a valid support contract on your WLC. You will need to verify this with your sales department and/or with your Cisco sales representative.

Btw. if you upgrade, also upgrade the FUS, if it's not already on 1.9.0.0 on your 2504 WLC.

Here the release notes for all the sofware versions for the 2504:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/wireless/wireless-lan-controller-software/products-release-notes-list.html

Thanks. I will find the cisco sales account to download the software.

can you say how to update the software of the wlc?

Thanks

That is quite easy.

See the release notes chapter for the steps:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn82mr6.html#pgfId-1318425

It takes around 30-60 minutes for the upgrade to complete.

I recommend to first install the FUS 2.0.0.0 (not like I previously stated 1.9.0.0), as it fixes an issue with the storage in the 2504 controller.

Manual for FUS and more details (it's like the BIOS of the WLC): http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/fus-rn-20.html

The FUS is a tiny bit more complicated, so read the whole document on the second link.
