Hi

if anyone can helpo it would be great.

I I using a cisco 350 within our building for laptops users.

We are using no servers for authentication.

I want to only allow our mac addresses to authenticate with the access point.

I also want to encrypt our data using WEP.

The problem I am haviong is that I have configured the mac addresses in the filtered section and applied it.So it has the list, but when i try using another card with a mac address that is not valid and in the list, I can connect with no probs. This means that my mac authentication is not working properly.

I then also configured a WEP key with 40 bit encryption and full encryption.

I configured 1 WEP key and the authentication type is set as open.

This is all I have done and it still does not seem to work. When I remove all configuration it works fine and i can connect but the data is not secure from outside sources so i neewd to get it working with encryption.

Can anyone give some advice or guidance.

You may have missed a step when setting up the MAC address filters. Here is a URL that shows the exact steps for this. http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/wireless/airo_350/accsspts/ap350scg/ap350ch5.htm

You may need to reset the access point back to factory defaults and reconfigure the unit. http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/102/wlan/pwrec-2.html
