Cisco AP DHCP operation

Hi,

I'd like to know if a Cisco AP can control if the ip address assigned to it is already used in the subnet, and possibly send DHCP decline message to the DHCP server (and links to related Cisco official documentation)

Also I'd like to know what is the AP behavior in case of ip not received from the DHCP server (and links to related Cisco official documentation).

Involved AP models: 1572, 2802I, 1552E, 1602I 1702I, 2602I, 2702I, 3702I.

Involved release: 8.3.143.0

Thanks,

Samuele

If the AP get IP address from DHCP Server, depends on lease time expiry, most of the time you get same IP address since DHCP cached information.

You do not see any conflict for sure. until some one configured manually the IP address to AP.

If the DHCP Not giving IP, there may be reason your Scope is Full, So you need to have monitoring system in Place to Monitor DHCP Scope.

best way is to reserve the IP address for MAC Address of AP. So you get always same IP address.
