hello
I am updating to 9115ap and am using version 16.12.
I know that you can't upgrade 16.12 -> 17.09 at once through Cisco's homepage.
So I'm trying to upgrade to 17.03.08a first and then upgrade to 17.09.04.
I unzipped the 17.03.08a zip file and copied the C9800-AP-iosxe-wlc.bin file to ap using the copy tftp flash command.
Because the zip file is too large, it cannot be placed in the AP.
And
no boot system
boot system flash:C9800-AP-iosxe-wlc.bin
end
wr
reload
I did this, but the reboot result is still 16.12. Did I do something wrong?

You cannot just copy files to flash on AP-COS and EWC (which is what I presume you are using) @heyjunsun
You must use the install script.
See https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/embedded-wireless-controller-on-catalyst-access-points/221705-upgrade-aps-in-non-homogeneous-ewc-netwo.html

- @heyjunsun I don't understand, since you could not place that version on the AP because no space available (or too small) ; how cam you then boot from it ?

Hello, for example, 17.09.04.zip cannot contain images, but when you unzip it, you get the C9800-AP-iosxe-wlc.bin file, so you said you contained this. However, when I searched the Internet, I saw that it was better to contain the full version. Am I wrong?

Those files must be extracted from the zip file onto your TFTP server for the APs to download.

Hello, are you saying that I need to receive the image in a different MODE than EWC-mode?
Do I need to change to a mode other than EWC mode before proceeding? I still don't understand even after referring to the documentatio

No.
I am saying you must not use "copy tftp flash" command and you must not change the config using the "boot system" command.
You must use the EWC GUI to upgrade the images. Check out this video with step by step instructions:
