Cisco Prime License

Are Cisco prime licenses required for the following devices:

Cisco ASA

Wireless Controller

UCS BE6K

I was trying to following SKU pattern but couldn't find anything:

L-MGMT3X-DEV-K( where DEV is the device type).

Or are the licenses not required for these devices and they are just supported via generic SNMP monitoring and network monitoring in general.

TIA,

LN

Hi @latenaite2011

Any device on Prime requires license. Generic SNMP is possible but with very limited information.

For detailed supported device, take a look here:

For the WLC, yes.

For the other devices, I'm not sure, but I would expect you do need either assurance or lifecycle licenses.

Ok, what is the license part for the WLC?

I don't see an option for WLC (page 8 from the URL below).

Trying to follow L-MGMT3X--K9 where DEV is device type.

Thank you!

I only have Assurance and LifeCycle licenses, no other. For a new WLC 3504 (with Cisco one Licensing), the license file is named C1-PI-LFAS-AP-K9.

Ok, how about Cisco Wireless Controllers 5800?

What's a 5800? Do you mean the 5508 or 5760, or maybe the 8540?

Anyway, I think they all require the same license. Sadly the Prime License dashlet is broken in my installation and doesn't correctly count the licenses at the moment. But as far as I remember, the WLC counted as either 1 or even 0 Lifecycle tokens. Now that I think of it, when I removed my 2 WiSM (in total 4 WLC 4404) I didn't have 4 unused licenses in Prime... So it might be possible that the WLC itself doesn't count as a device requiring a license.

Thank you for this.

Is the initial purchase for one year support?  Say if we buy the Cisco Prime base packages that includes Life & Assurance with 50 APs count, the support covers one year and then after that, a renewal of 50APs license count is needed for support after that?
