I have two Lucent (Orinoco) access points, the AP-500 and the AP-1000. I have the 128-bit WEP encryption enabled and currently the use the Orinoco Gold cards to access the network. Everything works fine. Now I have a need to use a wireless Cisco card and have narrowed down my choice to the 350. Does anyone have any experience with the Cisco 350 wireless card and the Orinoco access points using WEP? I'd like some reassurance before I purchase the Cisco cards. Thanx.

Although I use a Total Cisco solution in my network, I have tested Cisco 350 cards with both OriNoco and Symbol APs and they work fine.

My understanding was that 128-bit encryption was not written into the standard, and as such, 128-bit WEP is going to be a proprietary implementation in all cases. Doesn't mean it won't work, but it might not.
I think 40-bit should work.
Ask Lucent/Cisco tech assistance.

although 128bit is not part of the WEP standard, most, if not all vendors use it. I have Lucent, Cisco, Intel and Symbol access points and Cisco, Lucent, Intel (including Xircom) wireless cards, all using 128 bit and they work fine. The Cisco cards seem to have the best radio, in my opinion, but they are all comparable
