Cisco WAP that fully works on 15.4W normal PoE

Hi,

The new 3800 WAPs require PoE+ and 30W of power to fully operate, if you connect them to an older switch that supplies 15.4W of normal PoE power they boot up but don't turn the wifi radios on.

We have a lot of older switches.

I don't want to use to use power injectors and can't order older model cisco WAPS (i.e 3700s).

What newer model works directly on a normal PoE 15.4W supply?

Thanks,

Andy

The 9115/9117, 9120 and 9130 "can" operate at 15.4w, however, I strongly recommend to carefully look at Product Specification of each AP to determine which functionality to "sacrifice" due to lack of power.

Add to Leo's comment, here is 9130 power draw, it will work with PoE (15.4W) limited to 1x1 radio chain

As Catalyst APs (9100 series) is the way to go, I would suggest watching this Ciscolive session as it goes into details that you need to know.
