Hi
I have a Cisco WLAN Controller 4400 and it has been working for many years. Few days back it stopped responding and I am not able to ping its management port IP address. I connected thru its console port and as soon as I reboot the WLAN Controller I get few messages as mentioned below and nothing more shows.
Bootloader 4.2.205.0 (May 7 2009 - 21:17:00)
Motorola PowerPC ProcessorID=00000000 Rev. PVR=80200020
CPU: 833 MHz
CCB: 333 MHz
DDR: 166 MHz
LBC: 41 MHz
L1 D-cache 32KB, L1 I-cache 32KB enabled.
I2C: ready
DTT: 1 is 32 C
DRAM: DDR module detected, total size:512MB.
512 MB
8540 in PCI Host Mode.
8540 is the PCI Arbiter.
Memory Test PASS
Does it lost its firmware ?
Please guide how to fix.
Thanks... Cleetus Antony

No, the controller is dead.

Yea.. I also suspect it.. but is there anyway to make it alive/install the new firmware in it ? Or should I go for a new controller totally ?

4400 controller is already End-of-Sale. My recommendation is to ignore replacing this with a 2504/5508 and go straight to a 5520.

In your knowledge, is there any hope for life on this 4400 ? Please guide me if we can try anything thru console ?

The hardware is dead. It's not even attempting to get past the memory test.
Does this 5508/5520 controllers supports AIR AP1130 E/A standard access points ?
The 1130 are also end-of-sale. The final controller firmware to support the 1130 is the 8.0.X.X. The lowest firmware capable of supporting the 5520 is 8.1.X.X.
Talk to your Cisco AM/SE and ask for a special controller+AP bundle pricing.

It looks like the 4400 is getting past the CPU and RAM test, but the hard drive appears to have failed. With that said, it does not appear that you will be able to recover the 4400 appliance.
You can stand up a quick virtual WLC and reconfigure your WLAN's. And yes, the 1130's are listed as supported AP's in the Cisco Wireless Solutions SW Compatibility matrix

Hope that helps,
Bob
