we have cisco wlc 9800 and have 25 ap connected to it. i want to reboot one AP through GUI. is it possible to reboot single ap with GUI portal??

Hello!

Yes. Go to configuration -> Wireless -> Access Points -> Select AP -> Under Edit AP -> Advanced and under Hardware Reset pres Perform reseto on the AP.

Over CLI:
AP name <name> reset

AP name <name> reset = reboot AP
AP name <name> reset capwap = simply restart CAPWAP state machine and re-join WLC which is much quicker and usually achieves all the same things we used to use AP reboots for.

You only need full AP reboot when there's a fault on the AP you want to resolve.  If you just want it to re-join to switch controller (eg after changing pri/sec HA settings) or pick up new tags then capwap reset is the better option.
