We have a wireless setup with WLC 5520 version 8.5 running bonjour gateway for apple TV. Currently global multicast is enabled and multicast mode is multicast (multicast-multicast). But Our wired network is not configured multicast. apple TV , AP and clients are in different vlans and connected to WLC via L3 hops. I understand it should work fine for multicast-unicast mode without having multicast routing on wired network.
But Can someone explain how multicast-mutlicast mode is working without enabling multicast on wired network ?
One way is, it simply gets broadcasted and wastes a lot of your wired bandwidth. My suggestion would be to get multicast capable network switches/routers. Or I don't understand your question :)
