Hello,

I purchased a new Access Point Cisco Catalyst 9162I. I want to set different channels so that my devices could get connected to that and receive data from different channels simultaneously how do i achieve this.

Regards.

Receive with one channel and transmit with another channel?

didn't understood the solution you are saying. want a detailed solutions or steps how to configure multiple channels on AP so that devices could connect to it. If anyone can help. I want to have multiple channels so that each receiver should get to receive data from different channels simultaneously.

Regards.

Like Channel Bonding?

No, what i want is channel separation for load balancing and interference avoidance.

The explanation talks more about channel width (20 vs 40 MHz) — which is about how wide a channel is, not about using many different ones

What is the business case for this use?

Wireless access points are not the same as mobile phone technology.

I want it for my research project. the Access Point has multiple channels. i just want to do is the want to set different SSIDs with different channel settings. for that i created the different SSID. Then in RF settings i tried to create a new profile. But what happend is that specific setting how should i make for particilar SSID. In the below SS i want to set the SSID for 5GHz frequency band and the channel i want to set is 36. you can see the error in the image. hope this will give a clear idea what i want.

The best option for you would be to create 2 SSIDs - keep one on 2.4Ghz and second one on 5Ghz. By doing this, 2 different SSIDs will be broadcasted in 2 different bands as well as 2 different channels, one from each band (assuming you are not using channel bonding in the 5Ghz.)

Hi Sanandy,
Appreciate the suggestion! Setting up two SSIDs on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz makes a lot of sense for my use case. I’ll give that a try. Thanks again!

Keep in mind that an access point no matter what vendor will only use channels in the 5GHz or 2.4GHZ configured.  It will not allow you to separate channels for use for receive on one and transmit on the other. Example, channel 36 transmit and 161 receive.  Or on the 2.4GHz, channel 1 is receive and channel 6 is transmit.  There are high end wireless bridges that are full duplex which will send and receive on specific channels.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the clarification! I had misunderstood how transmit and receive work your explanation about half-duplex operation and same-channel usage really helped clear that up.
