Confusion on AIP-SSM and CSC-SSM functions

I'm trying to digest the major differences between the AIP IDS module and the CSC module.

According to the data sheets both products utilize Trend Micros Anti-Virus anti spyware technologies to stop malicious code from entering the network.

The CSC will also stop

spam

phishing

Supports content filters for email

Block or filter URLs

Seems like the CSC will do most of what people want. Why would I us a IDS over a CSC module in an ASA.

The AIP-SSM module utilizes Trend Micro signatures to stop network worms only. The AIP module is not designedto defend against file-based viruses and spyware.

At a high level, choosing between the AIP module and CSC module is based on what you're intending to protect.

The AIP module provides IPS to protect servers and other network assets from worms, hacker attacks, zombies, etc.

The CSC module protects client computers from content-based threats, such as viruses, spyware, spam, and phishing attacks. In addition, the CSC module can filter and block URLs and e-mail content.
