Differences of AP models in different Regulatory Domain.

As we know，there are so many models of Cisco APs，such as C9105AXI-A、C9105AXI-B、C9105AXI-C、C9105AXI-D and so on.I know different regulatory domain stand for different bands and channels，every country or area has it's domain. But I still have some doubt about it.

1、Whether the models in different restricted areas are universal.For example， If the USA uses the - A model, can it use the - C model as well? What impact will it have?  If - C can be used, what standard channels and frequency bands will it operate in?

2、Can models with more frequency bands and channels cover less models? For example，Can the following - B models cover - D models?

-B：

● 2.412 to 2.462 GHz; 11 channels
● 5.180 to 5.320 GHz; 8 channels
● 5.500 to 5.720 GHz; 12 channels
● 5.745 to 5.825 GHz; 5 channels

-D：

● 2.412 to 2.462 GHz; 11 channels
● 5.180 to 5.320 GHz; 8 channels
● 5.745 to 5.825 GHz; 5 channels

3、Can different models be managed under one controller?  For example，-C and -D can be managed under a C9800 controller？

Note : i come across good information, since UK moved from EU, you need buy - ROW (rest of the world)

You can not use non-regulator model in the respected area means, you can use EU model in US.

3. Can different models be managed under one controller? For example，-C and -D can be managed under a C9800 controller？

yes you can make a profile and join then in the right regulator group i guess.

1. You must use the designated AP model as per your geo location. Otherwise, you might end up violating the regulatory restrictions which might invite legal issues. In USA you must use APs which honor regulations set by FCC. Use the below link by Cisco to check what AP to be selected based on your geo-location. Wireless LAN Compliance Lookup (cisco.com)

2. As mentioned previously you can use -B APs only where it is certified to be used, if you use it in a location where the regulatory rules are as per the one depicted in -D you will end up illegally advertising your WLANs in UNII2 extended channels.

3. Yes. Controller can manager APs belonging to multiple regulatory domains. Why the WLCs are designed this way is that some customers have central WLC hosted in one country and APs distributed across multiple countries, so to support similar scenarios Cisco supports configuring multiple countries in single WLC.
