Hey Group,
Is it true that for all types of wireless cards (USB/PCMCIA), be it 802.11a, 802.11b & 802.11g, that they could only reach for a maximum distance of 100m?
Is there any way you can increase / extend the range?
Thanks so much for your help,
Lee

The 100m is just an average of the maximum distance a client adapter can be from an access point to associate and pass traffic. The client adapters can be further than that in ideal situations, which means no interferrence of any kind and that client would be the only device associating to the AP. Look at the data sheets for the clients at the URL below:

Don't forget, the AP signal transmits in a cone shape downward....so if you have AP on multiple floors in the same SSID, you will probably be able to pickup AP from the floor above you more than 100 meters away.

I have to respectfully disagree with one of the replies stating that you could connect at over 100m. Generally, given the fact that you will be going through a variety of construction, you will never connect at more than 200 - 250 feet at 2.4mhz (802.11b/g) and significantly less in the 5mhz band (802.11a).
