Hi Sir,
Good day to you. The following paragraph is extracted from Cisco recommendations,
To ensure that the wireless devices function properly, certain environment condition has to be taken into considerations. Since the wireless equipment is mounted indoor, no special care is required. However, certain aspects of good operating environment need to take into consideration.
• The access point operating temperature is -20 - 55
• The performance of the WLAN and its equipment depends upon its RF environment. The following are some examples of adverse environmental variables:
• 2.4 GHz cordless phones
• Walls fabricated from wire mesh and stucco
• Filing cabinets and metal equipment racks
• Transformers
• Heavy duty electric motors
• Fire walls and fire doors
• Concrete
• Refrigerators
• Sulphur plasma lighting (Fusion 2.4 GHz lighting systems)
• Air conditioning duct-work
• Other radio equipment
• Microwave ovens
• Other WLAN equipment
Wireless access point is subjected to interference from any devices operate in the 2.4GHz frequency range. No such devices should be allowed to locate near to the access points. If not, the access point will not be able to work.
My question is how far should I place my access point away from the source of interference such as microwave or x-ray room?
Thank you.
Regards,
Delon
