DNS host name for virtual IP on WLC 5760?

Hi all,

Does anybody of you know, if there is a way in setting a DNS hostname for the virtual IP on the 5760 WLC?

The parameter-map does not offer any option.

AireOS based WLCs do offer it in order to see a DNS name instead of the virtual IP when connecting to the captive portal.

Thanks in advance,

Patrick

Hi Stephen/Patrick,

Can you try and confirm if below works?

Switch(config)#parameter-map type webauth global

Switch(config-params-parameter-map)#virtual-ip ipv4 1.1.1.1 ?

virtual-host Virtual host name

Switch(config-params-parameter-map)#virtual-ip ipv4 1.1.1.1 virtual-host

Regards,

Ankur

Hi Pat,

Which release version you are running on your box. This feature is supported in latest release posted on CCO.

Ankur

Hi Ankur,

we are running the latest version 03.03.00SE.150.1.

I checked the global parameter-map but there is no command allowing me to set a DNS name for the virtual IP.

Patrick

Ankur,

I just looked through the configuaration guide that is posted in the WebAuth Bundle fo rthe 5760, and I do not see how you configure the VIP name in any of that documenation.

Hi Ankur,

I just checked and I can confirm the new parameter is present. Always expected a separate command, which is why I haven't given it a thought.

Anyway I will try and check, if I run into a problem during a connection test.

Regards,

Patrick

I have checked the setting and it is working. Thanks a bunch!

Even though CSCud56426 is solved in 03.03.00 I have abstained from configuring the parameter map while connections were alive.

Patrick
