Downgrade lwapp image -> permission denied

Hi All

I have a problematic AP 3502i here, which doesn't want to connect to any of my controllers. It's around 2 years old and I never used it before (see https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/13205991/lightweight-ap-3500-fail-join-capwaplwapp). I wanted to try now to downgrade the image, but when I'm in recovery mode and inputting the tar -xtract command, I'm immediately getting a permission denied error and the tftp server doesn't show a connection request.

Not sure now if I have to RMA it (or actually throw away) or what to do.

hi,

check for any typo such as there's NO .tar at the end of the file ap3g1-k9w7-tar.default.tar.

also ensure you're pointed to the right TFTP directory/path and image file is stored there.

Tried all possible variants, with various images, always the same error message.

Little update. With the Mode button (press before powering it up) and hold it until it's red (amber) I could force it now to download a new image, I hope I took the correct one. It's now loading it. Not sure if I should have taken the recovery image instead of the full image, I guess I'll soon see :)
