External 802.11a antenna?

Hi, looking for an external 802.11a antenna that would connect off of the "a" module we insert into a Cisco 1220 "g" access point. Are any out there?

Thanks.

I don't believe there is.

If you're talking about the PCCard "A" module, the paddle antenna appears to be fixed / not removable.

This is a requirement for radios using the "low" UNII freqs.

The FCC is either going to change, or has already changed, the rule that disallowed modular antennas for 802.11a equipment; expect to see more antenna options when the new version of the A radio module is released.

802.11a equipment that uses the "mid" or "high" bands (indoor/outdoor and outdoor-only) are allowed to have modular / external antennas and higher EIRP / Intentional Radiator power.

The 802.11a module for the AP1200s uses low and mid (four channels each) which is likely to restrict the antenna options (low band must use fixed antennas).

It'd be nice if they did change it, but the unknowing wireless wizards would probably fry their brains down to a pizza mushroom.....

Whatever.
