I am a contractor for a company, that has upgraded their access point to a newer model, and they want to factory default their old AP's before donating them to a local school district. (Around 300 to 400 Access Points) What is the easiest way to do this?
Without placing them back on a controller? I have tried to clear lwapp/capwap private-config but i get an “error command is disabled"
I also know i can place them back on a controller and Set to Factory Defaults --- Clear configuration on this AP and reset it to factory defaults.
Is there a way to factory default or delete the private config from CLI of the AP and not the controller?

I have been able to clear the private config thru the CLI of the access point without have them on the controller.

I think were the issue is. Is that some of the access points still have the default username and password? Because, if I can't login to one of the access points with the one that is configured on the controller. The default username and password of Cisco Cisco still works and the clear private config command won’t work unless the username and password has been changed..

And here with the "Mode" button besides the LAN port on the AP:
