flex connect ap with wlc running 8.10.112

Hi ,

i have this flexconnect ap swinging from wlc1 to wlc2 scenario.

apX is at wlc1 under flexgrp1 and apg1

wlc1 and wlc2 are configured with the same flex connect and ap group names and settings

after apX swung from wlc1 to wlc2, it went to the correct ap group (apg1) but went to default-flex-group.

i believe it should go to the same flex connect group as well? or is it normal behaviour? thanks

the config for controller-1 is saved in the access-point
and when moving to controller-2 it tries to keep the configuration present

if some parameters are different then these will revert to the default.
so though you think the groups are equal, they will have some difference(s)

it's not just the group-names, but also wlan/vlan mapping/radius etc.

old software versions also were sensible to case-mismatch (not experienced with recent versions)

Hi Pieterh,

thanks for the insights. the only parameter i can see that is different is that shared secret's field under the flex connect group's general tab

its a default shared secret as im not using the aaa fallback option. im saying its different in a sense that if i count the

number of "bullet" characters, wlc1 has lesser than wlc2.

it doesnt change eventhough i configure them to have the same shared secret.  i attached a screenshot on what i can see
