Trent Hewitt

Hello,

What is the difference in the  flexconnect tab of an AP versus WLAN-VLAN tab of a flexconnect group? What is the best practice setting for these two as well as switchport configuration?

Running 8510 on 8.2.111

TIA

Refer below for best practice config guides of flexconnect

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/technology/wlc/8-1/82463-wlc-config-best-practice.html#pgfId-402272

Your switchport config should looks like below

interface GigabitEthernet0/1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk native vlan 52
switchport trunk allowed vlan 52,154,155
switchport mode trunk
spanning-tree portfast trunk

Functionality wise there is no difference. However, if you bunch of aps and you want to configure all at once, you can make use of flexconnect group so that you don't have to configure it individually.

And on switch port, make sure your native vlan is same as what you mentioned on wlan vlan mapping. Usually, this is the one for management traffic of aps. And client vlans should be there in the tagged vlans list.
