I see same issue before RP must be in same vlan.

Thank you for your reply. Looks like we need to use RMI for new HA config, I use RMI + RP, but I got an error message as below. The ip address is correct, but it show "Invalid imput ... "

Thank you balaji, The link you sent is for version 16.12. The version that we are using is 17.5. Looks like there are some difference between the two versions. version 16.12 has option to choose interface for HA config, but version 17.5 has no this kind of option to choose an interface for configuring HA. Please see below version17.5:

i was missed that version, here is 17.5 config

Do you have 2 Links connected RMI and RP ?

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

a gee, I switched to RMI + SP also..  and lost my chassis 2..  are we supposed to be able to ping the assigned RMI ip? Once I disabled Redundancy, I suspect chassis 2 reverted to chassis 1 as it reverted to hostname wlc, flushed username list  and dropped links on g0 and te0/0/0..it is not yet playing nice as a standalone wlc..  only have console access.  I can ping the SP but nothing else. and the after reentering a username.. (admin/cisco) it still does not authenticate ssh/gui

UPDATE..  it works..

during the conversion to RMI+RP, the secondary chassis is flushed to standalone condition.

In my case chassis 2 did not have a Boot System pointer to bootflash:packages.conf so the unit reloaded 16.10 which was still on the machine.

after fixing the Boot Sys pointer and reloading, I still had no SP access, just console access.  I copied most of chassis 1's global config elements and had to reestablish AAA before I could link to SP....

to make a long story short,  GUI into the SP and the machine greeted me with Welcome, how do you wish to setup your new system? Interesting.  I had 3 choices..  Standalone, Active, Standby..  in Standalone it askes way too many questions..  so I picked Standby..  It asked TWO questions. Primary RMI and Secondary RMI.

a quick reload later and the package was all restored..

I wonder if zsky ever got his system fixed?

Sorry for the delay due to another project. Yes, we plan to use RMI and RP. To make sure thing is correct, here is one question: using one cable to connect the two RP port configured with dedicated subnet for two ip address, and create two ip address for each RMI and the two ip address are the same subnet as wireless management vlan. Am I right? Thank you
