Hey ,

we have deployed 9800 virtual wlc 17.12.04 and connected some legacy AIR-CAP2702I-E-K9 APs to it .

For some reason after some time APs starts getting high CPU caused by proccess Lwapp PMIPv6 Pro

CPU utilization for five seconds: 89%/3%; one minute: 90%; five minutes: 90%
PID Runtime(ms) Invoked uSecs 5Sec 1Min 5Min TTY Process
123 974535864 4101459056 0 85.43% 86.28% 86.05% 0 Lwapp PMIPv6 Pro

Any ideas?

I do not use any mobility anchors and so now, WLC is standalone

If AP is rebooted that again cpu is fine for ~ a week and than starts the same again ..

   - Do you need ipv6 ?
   - Consider upgrading to latest advisory software version :

I do not use ipv6 at all on APs, it’s not even configured on any interface…

 - @Domi          Ok, consider the upgrade to 17.12.5

Is any improvement In new version about this issue? Didn’t find anything in release notes

  - @Domi  Problems can always be complex correlated with no direct dependencies or mentioned resolved as such in the Release Notes ; therefore always useful to try the latest advisory release,

Honestly @Domi  it's unlikely that 17.12.5 will make any difference for the 2702 APs.
Those APs are now end of support so there are no more bug fixes for the old IOS AP code and it's unlikely that any changes in platform independent code would help.

Cisco only allowed you to keep using those old APs on 17.12 to help you with migrating off them to new C91xx APs, so consider that problem to be a reminder that you need to be looking at replacing those APs <wink>  In the meantime you'll just have to reload them regularly ...
