High Density Deployment / Low TX power

Hello Everyone,

I have a high density deployment in which my AP's on 5GHz are mostly showing power level's 6 and 7.  We use Cisco 7925's and I'm concerned about the power levels.  Is there anything I can do to fine tune the power levels without creating co-channel interference?  Do I need to potentially remove some AP's?

Thank You

Hi Alex,

Pls post below output from your WLC & filter out the APs in this area. This would show us in which CH these AP operate & what power levels.

Just to add, are you currently having issues?  High density and poor AP placements can affect everything.  Having low TX power in a proper design can help, but you need to consider disabling most of the 2.4ghz radios if possible. The reason being is, you need to see if your devices tend to associate to the 2.4ghz vs 5ghz. Having low TX power on the 5ghz, client may prefer the 2.4ghz in some areas.

AP placement is the key here for good roaming also.  These phones are tricky at times to get working well.

Just to add to Rasika & Scott's responses:  Is the 5 Ghz radio running on 40-, 80- or 160 Mhz width?

In a dense deployment 40 Mhz channel width is sufficient.  Anything higher than that is suicide.
