How can I make my Web Auth NOT use SSL

Jorge Hernandez

Hey guys,

We have a WLC 2504 configured to use Web Auth which uses its own SSL certificate, but my boss wants it not to have people seeing the warning from their browsers, I asked for a SSL certificate but the company that we use said it cannot be done using IPs (192.0.2.1 in our case) so the other option would be disable SSL on the Web Auth page, how can I do that?

Thanks.

When you go after a certificate you tie it to a FQDN not the IP address.

so you could get a certificate issued to guest.yourcompany.com

Or if you are running 7.2 or better you can disable SSL for the guest access:

config network web-auth secureweb disable

But if you are using credentials, you really should keep SSL enabled.

Just to add to Steve's post.... use a public ip address for your VIP on the WLC and make sure that the FQDN can get resolved by DNS that the guest users obtain from DHCP.  Your SSL company will then issue you a cert.
