user > AP > WLC > CORE> FW > INET Router

Thanks

If your AP deployment mode is local (way to name from Cisco that all traffic is been forwarded to LAN side at WLC) then your assumption is true.

But if the AP is in Flexconnect mode, and you have selected to forward traffic locally to LAN at AP level, then WLC is not in the path.

@Ibrahim Jamil it really all depends what equipment you're using and how it is configured.
It would help if you detail what model of controller and AP you're using and what version of software they're running and how your WLAN (SSID) is configured.

Assuming it's a Cisco AP connected to a Cisco WLC then there are 2 key ways the traffic could be switched - expanding on what @JPavonM said:
With the AP in Local Mode all client traffic will be tunnelled from the AP to the WLC over a CAPWAP tunnel and Centrally switched and put onto the network at the WLC LAN port.
With the AP in Flexconnect Mode and the SSID/WLAN configured for Local Switching the client traffic goes directly into a VLAN on the AP switch trunk port and will be handled by the switch locally, not the WLC.

Hi Rich

Can y pls litle explain here my freind

Centrally switched and put onto the network at the WLC LAN port.

there is tunnel between AP and WLC, this tunnel use IP of AP and mgmt IP of WLC and use UDP port 5246/5247 (CAPWAP tunnel)

the traffic is encapsulation inside this tunnel in AP and decapsulation in WLC
form WLC the traffic of User is send without any encapsulation.

note:-some traffic like DHCP is modify by WLC.

Hi Freind

I didnt get this

put onto the network at the WLC LAN port.

these tunnel connect AP to WLC, traffic from user to AP then through tunnel (encapsulate) to WLC (decapsulate) then pass to network.
