How to Block SSID Hotspot in Cisco Controller 5508

Simon Thomas

I have a Cisco 5508 Controller in action.  Works great, however the Students in the High School have decided to start using their personal Cell Phones as Hot Spots to share with the Districts Tablets.

I looked through the Settings on the 5508 Controller and just can not find a option to block these SSID's.

Any help is always greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hot Spots should be seen as an "ad-hoc" rogue SSID. You could define a rogue rule to contain them.

Since those cell phones are leveraging their cell phone data connection ( 3g/4g ) over hotspot, you cannot administer those SSIDs through WLC,
