I’m assuming you have a 2504? That would be the only controller that you can connect an AP directly to. If you do have a 2594, then a dhcp would need to be created on the WLC for the same subnet as the WLC management. Then the AP can be connected to the WLC and the AP will get an IP address and join the WLC.

You are better off using a switch and an external dhcp for reliability and stability. If you want to create a dhcp scope on the WLC. Just do a search on Google for “Cisco 2504 create dhcp scope”.

But still Ap is not getting IP

Please post more info like your config, console output from the AP, etc. we can’t help without more info.

1. what is the DHCP helper address in Switch ?

2. Is WLC is your DHCP Server ?

 

check the IP helper configure in the VLAN config in Switch.
