How to convert from EWC to CAPWAP mode?

The EWC guide says that can switch to capwap mode with the ap-type capwap command.

But the command doesn't exist.

9800 is a series of controllers - not a model.  There are a variety of different 9800 WLCs!
2. AP model? 9115 AXI
3. Software version running on WLC? 16.2
There is no 16.2 version of software.  Let's for argument assume you intended to say 16.12.x - that is very old.  Upgrade your WLC software as per the TAC recommended link below - currently 17.9.4a + APSP8
4. Software version installed on AP? 17.6.4
There are CAPWAP changes that will possibly prevent that from joining such old software so software upgrade essential.
5. Any error messages you see? Not added
If the AP can't join then there will always be some kind of error message on the AP console and/or the WLC logs!

Upgrade the software first!

You need to READ the instructions carefully and @marce1000 reply.  The command is entered from the AP CLI prompt not the EWC CLI prompt.

So as per the guide you must first login to the AP console from the EWC then enter the command to switch to CAPWAP.

For anyone reading this: note that the username and password will be whatever the user configured when they did the initial EWC AP setup or in the AP join profile, so they are probably NOT "Cisco".

For anyone reading this: If you don't configure anything, then the username for AP shell is "Cisco".
