Good day,
I am implementing a Cisco WLC 5760 and wanted to know how to upgrade the IOS version.
I already have access to the download files but i am not sure about the procedure to actually upgrade it. Besides wanting to upgrade to the latest version i want to upgrade because of the bug where there is no output on the CLI once the WLC has started up without the console cable being plugged into the WLC
Also, when i update the IOS of the WLC will this update the IOS of my LAPs?
If i could get a sense of direction that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much

Hi
5760 upgrade procedure is very similar to a 3850. You may find below are useful in this regards. Once you upgrade the controller it will automatically upgrade the image of all of your LAPs registered to it.
1. http://mrncciew.com/2013/09/29/getting-started-with-3850/
2. http://mrncciew.com/2013/12/12/getting-started-with-5760/
Version wise go for IOS-XE 3.6 which has lots of improved features & GUI enhancements.

Hi Man,
In the link below look for: Upgrading Cisco IOS XE Software: Installed Mode, there is the procedure to upgrade this platform:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3850/software/release/3-2_0_se/system_management/appendix/iosfsApp/swiosfs.html#wp1311040
for the ap you can use the pre-download feature before restart it, It will reduce downtime.

Hey,
I was going through my peer groups on my WLC and realized that my 3650 switch is down and down.
I know that your blog was for the wlc 5760 and the 3850 switch but i thought the 3650 (LAN Base license) had the same capabilities.
Is it that the 3650 doesn't have the capability to form the mobility path?

Hi Davion,
If you properly configure the mobility peering (between 5760 & 3650) tunnel should come up. Make sure no ACL blocking UDP 16666 & 16667 traffic between these two.
Post "show wireless mobility summary" output of 3650 & 5760 as well

Hi Davian,
Yes, it seems to me that your MA hasn't configure properly.Make sure in MA you have defined a wireless management interface & pointing it to MC IP address.
See if your MA & MC config is as shown below. In the given example MA & MC are L3 separated.
3850(MA)#sh run | in wireless
wireless mobility controller ip 10.160.49.1
wireless management interface Vlan161
!
interface Vlan161
ip address 10.161.33.22 255.255.254.0
5760(MC)#sh run | in wireless
wireless mobility group name BUN-1
wireless management interface Vlan160
wireless mobility controller peer-group SPG1
wireless mobility controller peer-group SPG1 member ip 10.161.33.22
!
interface Vlan160
ip address 10.160.49.1 255.255.254.0
