HREAP support in WLC CT5760

Can anyone confirm, if we have HREAP support on WLC CT5760, if yes, is their any design guide, if doesn't support, any alternate solution to get HREAP connectivity with AP's located at a different site and WLC at datacenter and having local switching.

HREAP/FlexConnect does not support on IOS based controllers.

You may use a 3850/3650 at your site where WLC integrated onto the switch. Refer this for some useful information on how to design converged access for a single site.

Hi Rasika,

Thanks for the confirmation, In our design, WLC is in data center and serving clients at other sites, any possibility to get this worked with CT5760 model WLC ?

Thanks

Raghav

with 5760 you cannot have flexconnect mode APs. Better to have even a 2504 if you want FlexConnect design at your sites.

Hi Rasika,

If we have 2504 model Access points, can we have flex connect design with WLC CT5760 at datacenter ?

I believe he meant 2504 Wireless LAN Controller.

YEs. Both 5760's withh become a logical one.

you can have 2504 controllers working along with 5760 with new mobility enabled. 3.6 IOS and 8.0 on 2504 controllers.

I did not understand the part of question involving 2504, but to answer to an extent,

5760 will not support HREAP. you can use 2504 to terminate those AP's

Pls rate if useful

Hi Rasika,

If 5760 model WLC does not support Hreap, can we create subnets of remote site in WLC located at datacenter and make it work as normal local switching over WAN ? latency from datacenter to remote site is approximately 60ms. if users use wireless over WAN with 60ms latency, will they face any slowness or any other issues ?

Please suggest. we already have a pair of 5760 purchased and somehow make it work for remote site users.

Yes, that will work. So AP at branch should be on local mode and all WLAN traffic is centrally switched. So wireless users subnet will be defined in DC switches.

Hi Rasika,

Thank you so much for that response, Can you please also help on how to design the mobility group for this setup. we are trying to connect both WLC5760's with stack cable and have redundancy, but how should we create a mobility group.

My doubt is config will be same on 5760 as this being the stack model, logically their will be only one WLC then what will be the mobility peers ?
