I can't convert Aironet 2802i to Mobility Express

Joelsouzasoares

Level 1

Can someone help?

I can't get into configuration mode (ap> /ap#) and I can't get into Rommon Mode either.

I've done procedures to enter the Rommon Mode pressing Break by the Putty command.

I've done the procedure by Button Mode, pressing for more than 20 seconds and less than 30 seconds, in an attempt to restore the AP from the factory assuming the IP 10.0.0.1 and look for an image in the TFTP that is on my Notebook with IP 10.0.0.2 with the AIR-AP2800-K9-ME-8-10-151-0.tar image, all these attempts were unsuccessful.

I've also tried configuring a DHCP Server with sub net 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0, I'm using TFTPD64, I can see the TFTPD64 providing IP 10.0.0.3 to the AP but the AP keeps giving the message "waiting for uplink IP address and reachable default gateway" and I try to ping but it doesn't respond.

I do not know what else to do.
I can only see the initialization of the AP, see the output below:

AP is not getting an IP address.

Manually configure the IP address (if I am not mistaken) using the command:

capwap ap ip address <ip> <subnet>
capwap ap ip default-gateway <gateway>

AP is not getting an IP address.

Manually configure the IP address (if I am not mistaken) using the command:

capwap ap ip address <ip> <subnet>
capwap ap ip default-gateway <gateway>

this I know, actually I can't connect to it to configure, I tried to enter Rommon Mode, resetting and not halfway

The AP is in CAPWAP mode.  There is no "config mode".  Enter the commands in enable mode.

So, the problem that I can't enter the commands in the console, I can only see the outputs as I posted

That is usually a problem with one of:

- driver - make sure you have the right driver installed for the cable you're using

- terminal software - trying a different - PuTTY works with most

- cable - try a different brand of USB-serial cable - some of them don't play nicely with certain devices

- terminal settings 8N1

Putty settings are correct, I can connect to another device, for example I am connecting to a catalisty 2960 switch.

Or use a DHCP server (router, switch or software on PC) which can provide the IP configuration to the AP.

TFTPD64 is a TFTP server, not a DHCP server, so it does not "provide an IP address"

iit works yes, actually I can't connect to it to configure, I tried to enter Rommon Mode, resetting and not halfway

As @Leo Laohoo said simply enter the capwap commands in enable mode after bootup - no need to use ROMMON.

If you can't manage to configure it manually then use a DHCP server.

And as I've explained before if you're confused by all the output on the console then have your commands prepared in notepad (or text editor of your choice) and then paste them onto the console.
