iPhones on Open SSID with Web Policy need to reconnect

Hi together,

I currently face problems with connecting iPhones to a guest SSID with open Layer 2 security and

layer 3 Web Policy on passthrough.

We discover that a connection to the SSID is possible by clicking the Accept button on the WLC-Portal.

But as soon as the Device goes to sleep we lose the phones. If a user wakes up his device it is needed to Accept the EULA on the WLC again.

This only happens when the iPhones are not externally powered. And only iPhones are affected, Android works perfectly fine.

I already tried to enable the "Sleeping Client" on the SSID without effect.

Did anyone have a similiar problem?

Greetings

On the SSID configuration -> Advanced, make sure your timers are high enough to not disconnect the client while it's "offline".

We do have following timers in place:

Sleep Timer: 720 min

Session Timeout: 43200sec (720 min.)

Client User Idle Timeout: 7200sec (120 min.)

I also do see the sleeping client table fill up with clients, but without change for the clients...

And what is the DHCP lease timeout? Although I don't believe that is the issue here.
What is the software version of the WLC?

DHCP lease time is the same as session timout, 12 hours.
Currently we are running on Code 8.2.166.0

There is a little chance you hit this bug:

To validate it, disable the Idle Timeout and check if it's better. It's fixed in 8.2.170.0.
