Is there a WCS 7.0.235.0 ?

Recently controller release 7.0.235.0 was made available , for 4400 controllers. Usually WCS must follow controller

releases for compatibilty, as is also explictly mentioned in the release notes.

Yet there is no WCS 7.0.235.0 available for download ?

How come ?

Hi,

I would wait on moving to 7.0.235.0 until a newer release of WCS if released or if it
will be supported on the NCS that is the WCS replacement.

You have the absolute right to wonder about it!!

This is really strange.

Although release notes mentions that there is wcs7.0.235.0, I think the guy published the release notes only modified the version number of 7.0,239.0 release notes.

I would also say wlc 7.0.235.0 should be compatible with wcs 7.0.230.0.

Almost the same when wlc 7.0.78.218 released to address some bugs in 7.0.98.0, it was still compatible with wcs 7.0.98.0.

Regards,

Amjad

Hi,

As you can see in the link bellow : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/5500/tech_notes/Wireless_Software_Comp
atibility_Matrix.html#wp69236
WCS version 7.0.230.0 support WLC 7.0.235.0 , so you don’t have to upgrade the WCS to version 7.0.235.0 to be able to work with your WLCs on code 7.0.235.0

That document seems to indicate the contrary, I don't see any reference to WLC 7.0.235.0 in there ... ?

Becaue the code is still new it is normal for Cisco not to update the tickets so far.

I've seen release notes that are not updated since years.

The latest version of the Wireless Software Compatibility Matrix, does, now confim that

controller release 7.0.235.0 is compatible with WCS 7.0.230.0. I can only presume that the same is true

for the recently release 7.0.235.3 (?) : Ref :

Yes it still would apply for 7.0.235.5.

FWIW, in the release notes for the two recent updates for the 4402, 7.0.235.0 and 7.0.235.3, the release notes have said something like:

What's New in This Release?

There are no new features or enhancements in this release. This release addresses only critical issues with the controller software.

(Oof! Things copy/pasted directly from the Cisco site come with a lot of HTML cruft! Hope I cleaned it up readably enough.)

To me this suggests there is no reason for a cooresponding WCS update. They are not chainging stuff that the WCS needs to know about to manage the WLCs differently, they are just patching bugs at the WLC level.

Here's the link for the notes on the latest 7.0.235.3 patch, which addresses Win8 authentication; (the above quite is from the 7.0.235.0 notes):
