Hello

I have a problem to associate an AP cisco 3802, I have WLC 5508 with version 8.2.166.0, I can associated 22 AP´s before, but the problem is with one, this one boot in Cisco mobility express mode.

I tried restarting to the factory default, but is the same symptom.

Somebody know how I can force to boot in LAP mode to associate to WLC? or is some bug and need to start RMA with this AP?

I solved the issue, the below steps

1.- Configure the AP like a WLC system

2.- Login to WLC system

3.- Put this command to force the AP to join to WLC :

config ap unifiedmode WLC name WLC IP (config ap unifiedmode WLC_New 10.1.1.10)

Thank you all

Easy way is to place the AP in the same subnet as the wlc management. This way the ME will discover the controller and download the image.

Hello,

The AP is in the same vlan.  I have other 22 access point, the port configuration is same. I tried move the AP to other switch but the issues continue.

connect the console cable to post the logs to have look.

if you have not opened the TAC case.

with console cable, I saw the AP start in mobility express, same to initial configuration with WLC mode.  If I put all start information the AP start in WLC mode.

The AP should join the wlc if on the same subnet. If you have other ME’s that work and this one doesn’t, RMA the device and don’t spend time trying to get it to work. One of the requirements for ME is to make sure the AP can’t join a wlc by any discovery or else it will join and you will loose the ME function. So you can see that there is an issue with that AP.
