I have a few questions regarding the process to convert LAPs to APs
I will be converting several 1142 LAPs to APs using the following command.
config ap tftp-downgrade <tftp-server-addr> <image-name.tar> <ap-name>
1. How can the progress of the conversion be monitored?
2. Can the process be cancelled once its started?
3. After the process is complete, can the AP be accessed by telnet or ssh?
4. If #3 is yes, would the default Cisco credential be needed to access the AP?
Thanks in Advance

1. How can the progress of the conversion be monitored?
You can't unless you consoled into the AP while the conversion is happening.
2. Can the process be cancelled once its started?
Yes, from your TFTP server program you are using.
3. After the process is complete, can the AP be accessed by telnet or ssh?
Telnet. Username/Password is "Cisco/Cisco".

Just to add to what Leo mentioned:
The process of transfer can be cancelled from TFTP side when the image is being transferred. However, if the image is already transferred you can not stop the process unless you power off the LAP.
It is not even recommended to power off the AP in the middle of the conversion because that may cause image error and the AP loses both LAP and AP images. You then need to bring the AP and TFTP a new image to it.
