Hello Experts,
As I am using old WLCs 2100 or 2500 series so I am not much aware about new WLCs licensing .
My question is : Does 5520 wlc support same as 2504 wlc(need to buy adder license and then need to insall on WLC) ?
or some other kind of license is needed ?
Thanks

Hi,
5520 dont support old style of licensing....
5520 Wireless LAN Controller supports 2 types of licenses:
More info here: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/3504-wireless-controller/214106-licensing-on-3504-5520-and-8540-wireles.html#anc1

Hi,
Its depends....I personally like both ways:
--> RTU (Right-to-use) licensing model (with End User License Agreement acceptance) is an honor(trust-based) based licensing model created for faster and more flexible network deployments. For every AP joined to the controller, one license count is required.
--> Smart licensing exists on the cloud portal, means you must have a smart account to connect WLC to either to your satellite or Cisco cloud.
Now you can decide which is easier for you!!
