Management IP addresses of controllers the LAP remembers previously
Where is the previously management IP address of controllers saved by the AP's system? NVRAM? I issue dir nvram: commands and observe that in that NVRAM there are 3 files: startup_config, running-config and private-config. Which one it is?
Thanks

It depends on how you access the AP... so just run these commands:
debug capwap console cli
erase /all nvram:
[confirm]
undebug all
reload
[confirm]

Yes... in NVRAM. If your ap is lightewieght, then you can issue the following to clear all of the nvram.
config t
Entered the username and password
debug capwap console cli
erase /all nvram:
[confirm]
undebug all
reload
[confirm]

Why I never reach the 'conf t'. What is the problem? This access point is lighweight: cisco AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9 and the IOS is c1130-k9w8-mx.124-13d.JA.
Does this mean I can't go any further than privilege mode in lightweight access point?

Here is an output from a 1142 that is lightweight. I would delete all in the nvram to clear the AP
AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9#dir nvram:
Directory of nvram:/
30 -rw- 0
31 ---- 0
1 ---- 4100
6 ---- 528
7 ---- 23

Can you just run the debug capwap console cli?

We only have this options sir:
AP0007.0e5f.ef30#debug capwap ?
am KAM-AP debug
client CAPWAP Client Debug Options
ids WIDS debug
mcast CAPWAP MCAST Debug Options
mfp CAPWAP MFP Debug Options
reap CAPWAP REAP Debug Options
rm CAPWAP RM Debug Options
there is no debug capwap console cli. Why it different? This LAP too..

Don't do a '?'.... its a hidden command:)
07-23-2012 01:24 PM
Yess!!! Sure!! It's hidden. How you know it Scott??
Ah You are a hero!! Thanks men.
But, any hidden command again that useful for us to troubleshoot, Scott?
Btw, thanks again Scott. I can clear it now, and ready to rejoinning the Access Point again. Here's our:
================================
AP0007.0e5f.ef30#debug capwap console cli
This command is meant only for debugging/troubleshooting
Any configuration change may result in different
behavior from centralized configuration.
CAPWAP console CLI allow/disallow debugging is on
AP0007.0e5f.ef30#
AP0007.0e5f.ef30#
AP0007.0e5f.ef30#erase /all nvram:
Erasing the nvram filesystem will remove all files! Continue? [confirm]
[OK]
Erase of nvram: complete
==================================================
and after that reload the access point as you taught.
Thankyou.

That command allows you to also allow you to issue config t, but again, be careful and some commands will get overwritten by the wlc. That is how I make sure my APs are clear of any old config. There is a good Cisco book on troubleshooting wireless lans and it does go over the debugs and how to read the debugs.

Great!! Another great commands!!!
I can enter 'config t'!! But, what can I do from this config-mode? Do this means now I can configure this LAP like an autonomous? Because I see that I configure almost any command in autonomous access point.
07-23-2012 01:39 PM
Ah pardon me, I'm so foolish. Just ask and ask. Okay I will improvise. Thanks Scott, this is really helpful.

You can't configure that ap as autonomous. It allows you to do some commands, but in the end, the configuration is done by the wlc. You can define the syslog server though.

Ah Okay. I note that. This command can be used to define syslog server. Thank you Scott.

No problem.
