From what I read, the maximum allowed clients under this configuration is 200, yet the 5508 controller supports up to 7000 clients?
How is that possible with just 2 bands, 2.4 and 5 GHz, each only supporting maximum 200 for each band?
Am I missing something or misunderstanding the Global Parameters configuration?

Hi,
In global parameter maximum allowed client range 1-200 per AP.
its mean you can connect max 200 on per AP either 2.4 or 5 GHz band.

The global parameter of 200 you refer to is actually per access point, not the entire client base on that specific network; and even that isn't meant to be a practical applicational limit. The Global Parameters are just being passed onto the access points in order to provide an easier solution to configuring an entire network of APs, so when you look at them try putting yourself in the perspective of the access point rather than controller when thinking of what the setting is affecting.

therortically you can go up to ~ 200 clients per AP, but practically you should limit to 25-30 per AP to give better experience to users. Therefore in that regards it is a design criteria how many clients you want to allow per AP per WLAN. Once you set that correct you do not want to worry about max clients per AP.

It is "marketing"-speak.
No wireless person will ever allow >20 wireless clients to connect to a single 2.4 Ghz radio.
