All,
We are expanding our wireless infrastructure by adding further access points AIR-AP1242AG-E-K9.
We use four WLC 4402 running version 6.0.188.0 as a fail over pair.
What is the maximum limit the WLC can handle ?
What is the recommended limit one WLC can handle ?
We can divide the load on the controllers but in case of a failover one WLC will manage all access points.
Kind Regards,
Zeeshan Siddiqu

Zeeshan,
Take a look at the full PID for the WLC. The 4402 comes in three flavores -12, -25 and -50. The last number indicates how many AP the WLC can accomodate.
as for the recommended, I've seen WLC with a full load run perfectly fine. What it really comes down to, is what kind of traffic is coming from the clients.
The more clients passing high throughput traffic, read that as video, voice etc, the less can be on a single AP. The traffic is what really determines the number of WLC needed, and the number of AP to support your network.
HTH,
Steve

Yes, if the primary and secondary fail it will go to the tertiary. Make sure that you have AP Fallback enabled as well, so that when the primary comes back online, the AP can move to it.
